My Proud Daughter Humbled?

Today I called Lizzie to get her opinions on Jane’s situation. When I mentioned it, she said “I have no idea.” However, she hesitated, and I get the feeling she knows more than she says she does. In fact, Lizzie said very little of anything throughout our entire conversation; a peculiar instance for her since my daughter is very opinionated. I even mentioned that I suspected our dear friend, Mr. Darcy, for Mr. Bingley’s inattention to Jane in an attempt to instigate a response from her since I know she was previously very passionate in her dislike of Mr. Darcy. She gave me a completely different reaction to it than what I had expected though. Instead of agreeing fervently and sounding angry when she referenced to him; she said that I was right, but that I should not be so quick to judge and sounded angry with me. Her words on this point were the most she spoke during our entire conversation. If I didn’t know any better, I would say that, by some miracle, my proud daughter has been humbled.

  1. Who wouldn't have feelings for Mr. Darcy? If I were a girl, I surly would have a crush on him. He is a man of stature and money, and his family is well known and has a good reputation. Lady Catherine, his aunt, is the most admirable lady I've ever had the pleasure to know. So surly, you so called proud daughter is merely following what is popularly done.

  2. I have realized the same attitude form Elizabeth as she has given you. When I meet up with her on our way home she did not mention a word about Mr. Darcy. Although it seemed as if when she would talk to me she was holding back. In the end I got a little back from her but it wasn't exactly the information I was looking for but it was better than nothing.

  3. Darcy is defanatly responsible for my lack of attention towards Jane. I was in love with her but he ruined it all.

  4. I belive that it is not humbled, but she is falling for Mr Darcy. With love, comes a change in personality. For look at me, I was able to settle for a girl like Charlotte and look past class to find some kind of relationship to spend the rest of our lives together. It has worked out perfectly and we love each other. However, if your daughter is not in love with Darcy, I am sorry to say that I do not know why she has done so? Once I know, I will tell you.

  5. It twas not my fault that I was driven away from Jane. It was Darcy. I loved her and felt strongly about our relationship, but Darcy ruined it all because he was lonely. I shall not forgive him, for because of it, Jane is hurt.

  6. Mother, I have no idea what you are talking about. Isnt it possible for me to just remain silent on some of your rambuctious accusations. I tell you I grow tired of your long speeches. I feel terrible about Jane but really everything will work out.
